Hey there, I'm Shalom! I'm a full-stack developer with a passion for crafting web applications that solve real world problems and look good. 🚀
About me
I wrote my first line of code back in 2012 when I was only 10 years old. After finding out that people were making modifications for my favorite game Minecraft and posting them online, I had decided to create my own "mod" by following some tutorials on YouTube. I had never coded anything up to that point, but I naively thought it would be easy. It took many painful hours of trying to get everything to compile, but that moment I saw the custom item I had created from scratch made everything worth it. My passion for programming was born.
After my first coding endeavor, every new project fueled my desire to learn more about programming. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in May 2024, where I obtained a B.S. in Computer Science. Through my coursework, personal projects, and internships I not only developed a strong foundational understanding of software as a whole, but also gained experience in many different subfields of Software Engineering, including Software System Design, Databases, and Cybersecurity. I started to see programming as a medium for expressing my creativity and making a positive impact on people, which is what drew me to full-stack development. The idea of creating something cool that can be accessed by anyone in the world and solve real-world problems is exciting to me. Full-stack development lets me leverage all the skills, knowledge, and experience I've gained throughout my programming journey. It motivates me to learn endlessly and to grow as both a developer and person. I am currently searching for job opportunities where I can take full advantage of my passion and love for software development.
When I'm not coding, I enjoy playing video games, basketball and watching interesting stuff on YouTube. After a long day, one of my favorite ways to de-stress is by playing guitar or ukulele and just getting lost in music. I really love learning new things, such as history, astronomy, and geography. I've always been fascinated by the universe and the world around us, and I think knowing more about it teaches us a lot about ourselves as well. Aside from programming languages, I've also been learning Spanish for several years and hope to become completely fluent soon. I aim to travel the world someday and experience as much as I can about our planet and its people. I can't wait to see what the future holds!
